What support workers do

The role covers personal care, daily living support and community participation. Most participants use a mix and adjust it over time as goals change.

Be concrete in your enquiry about the routine you want supported and any preferences — gender, language, driving, interests. In a smaller market, a specific request is easier for a provider to act on than a general one.

Staffing realities in southern Tasmania

Hobart's workforce is small and providers compete for the same pool of workers. Weekday daytime hours are generally coverable; evenings, weekends and high-intensity supports take longer to arrange and sometimes involve a wait.
