What a coordinator does

Coordination is the work of turning a plan into running supports: interpreting the budgets, finding providers, setting up agreements and following through when something breaks down. The hands-on support comes from support workers and therapists the coordinator helps you engage.

Your plan states the level funded. Support connection is short-term. Standard coordination is the common level. Specialist support coordination is for high-risk, multi-system situations.

Thin supply is the main challenge

Hobart's provider market is small. For common supports there is reasonable choice; for specialist therapy, behaviour support and SIL vacancies the pool narrows sharply and waitlists are normal. A coordinator's value here is disproportionately about knowing who is actually taking referrals this month.
