Falls prevention support
A single fall can change everything. Falls prevention combines exercise, home safety, equipment and the right daily supports — and the evidence is strong that it works.
What it is
Falls prevention covers OT home safety assessments, physiotherapy and balance programs, mobility equipment, home modifications, footwear advice, and personal care to reduce risk during transfers and showering.
Who it's for
Older Australians at risk of falls, people recovering from a fall, and people with conditions like Parkinson's, stroke or post-surgery weakness.
Home Care Package pathway
Home Care Packages can fund OT, physio, equipment and home modifications under your individualised plan.
CHSP pathway
CHSP can fund some entry-level supports — like a one-off OT home safety assessment and small home modifications.
NDIS pathway (under 65)
Younger participants at risk of falls due to disability can access OT, physio and equipment through the NDIS.

What does a falls assessment include?
Usually a home visit by an OT or physio — looking at walking, balance, footwear, equipment, lighting, rugs, stairs, bathroom safety and any medications that affect balance.
Can equipment like rails or a shower chair be funded?
Yes — through HCP, CHSP or NDIS depending on your funding source. An OT assessment usually supports the request.
